ROLES
Creon -- Ruler of Thebes, a commanding, egocentric presence. Powerful, complicated.
Antigone -- Oldest daughter of Oedipus, noble, headstrong, idealistic, defiant.
Ismene -- Antigone's sister, pragmatic, representative of the "middle way."
Haimon -- Creon's son, hopes to marry Antigone. Forthright, sensitive.
Eurydice -- Wife of Creon, and Queen of Thebes. Kind-hearted, visionary.
Tiresias -- A blind prophet, bold, wise, militant, eccentric.
Sentry -- Timid and obliquely humorous.
Members of the Chorus -- The Chorus is the heart and soul of the play. The individual members -- each of whom have several speeches -- are eloquent, intelligent, and civic-minded. Their recitations serve as both summary and conscience of the play
Orator -- Sets the tone at the beginning of the play as he reads from a scroll, returns at the end of the play for the tragic peroration.
Dancers and Musicians -- Key figures in creating the bizarre ambiance of the play, performed originally as part of festival of worship for the god Dionysus.
